Francesco Orlando

Francesco Orlando, born in Palermo in 1934, was the only private pupil of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the author of Il gattopardo. After a law degree, he graduated in French Literature at the University of Pisa. He taught this discipline in Pisa, Napoli and Venezia. In the 80s he returned to Pisa to teach Literary Criticism. Internationally renowned for the three-volume cycle about literature and psychoanalisis Due letture freudiane. Fedra e il Misantropo; Per una teoria freudiana della letteratura; Illuminismo, barocco e retorica freudiana, Orlando authored also a novel: La doppia seduzione (Einaudi 2010). He died in 2010.
