Gustavo Zagrebelsky

Gustavo Zagrebelsky, born in 1943 and former president of the Italian Constitutional Court, is professor emeritus of Constitutional Law at the University of Turin. His main areas of interest are the relationship between the formal and the substantial aspects of the law, the concepts of democracy, justice and laicity and the problem of the relationship between religion and politics. Opinionist for the newspaper La Repubblica, Zagrebelsky is one of the leading figures in the contemporary debate on democracy and one of the founders of Biennale Democrazia in Turin.
